Mitsubishi Outlander Sport Car Review 32

2015 Mistsubishi Outlander SportCar Review

Mitsubishi Outlander Sport 2015 is a great family car in the compact SUV category.  Fuel economy is listed at 24MPG in the city and 30MPG on the highway.  We drove this car for one week on an extended test drive and we got 22MPG.  The safety ratings are very high for this car, with 4 stars or better in every category.

The middle row does not have a ton of room.  Our very large teenagers were fine on a short drive. The leg room was just not spacious enough for our long legged sons, and they found it to get uncomfortable on longer drives.  Head room was also a bit tight.  Three of our teens are over 6 feet tall and their heads could touch the top of the car.  The middle row was a 60/40 split with the pull down arm rest in the center with two cup-holders.  We loved this middle row armrest cup holder that can be found in many new cars. It is a great way to have a barrier between two argumentative children.

Seating in the Mitsubishi Outlander Sport was adequate.  The leather was soft but it did not have much padding.  When we went for a drive in this car, we did not feel like we were so comfortable that we did not want to get out.  The driver’s seat did have a 6 way adjustable feature which made it a bit more comfortable than the other seats in the car.

The trunk had to be opened manually, no button on the remote.  Cargo space was not huge, but it was big enough to bring home one big grocery shopping trip and three kids in the middle row.  If you did not need to use the middle row seats, you could easily push one button and fold down the entire middle row.  The cargo space then would double and a trip to haul some larger items would then be possible.  Under the floorboard was a nice size spare tire and jack, just in case you needed it.

The color LCD Multi-Informational Display screen was very nice and easy to use.  The Mitsubishi Outlander Sport had a steering wheel with many controls on it so you could change the radio channels and volume or make bluetooth phone calls while driving.  The steering wheel and the shift knob were both leather wrapped which gave a bit of a luxury feel to the car.  The Fuse hands-free link system included the Bluetooth and a USB port.  Push button start was a nice touch so that I could keep my keys safely tucked into my purse.

The headlights were super wide and high intensity.  They really lit up our very dark neighborhood and made me feel safer while driving at night.  The rain sensing windshield wipers were an unexpected surprise.  While we were driving along one day, it started to lightly rain.  The windshield wipers went through one cycle all by themselves.  I really loved this feature, especially while driving a new car, as you do not want to get distracted trying to figure out where the windshield wipers are located!

The sound system in this car was excellent.  The 9 speaker Rockford Fosgate audio system with XM radio was very enjoyable.  The speakers were well placed in this car and we enjoyed a few family sing-a-longs together.  The rear camera, front and rear parking sensors, and voice recognition all worked perfectly fine.  Handling on this car was average and most of the time we had a very smooth ride.

The compact SUV field is very crowded.  The Mitsubishi Outlander Sport could be a strong competitor if it could be a little sportier.  With the name having the word SPORT in it, we were expecting a sportier drive.  The MSRP is between $20,000 and $28,000.  This is an affordable car with high safety ratings.  This car also has very high reliability ratings so it quite possibly could be a perfect vehicle for your family.  If you want a compact SUV to safely drive around town, this might be your perfect match.

Mitsubishi Outlander Sport : The Best part of this car?

The panoramic sunroof was the best part of this car.  What a lovely way to enjoy the clouds, nature, and even a rain storm.  This was the nicest sunroof we have ever seen in a car.  It was very expansive and difficult to photograph(see the overhead pic too).

Our dog enjoys test driving cars too.  She is quite picky and she does not enjoy most cars.  The Mitsubishi Outlander Sport gets two paws up as you can see below.
