Toy Story 4 Review Good for Kids

The newest Toy Story movie is opening this week and the anticipation is very high. I cannot think of a better way to start your family’s summer vacation than seeing Toy Story 4 together. I recommend this movie to any children ages 5 and up.  It would also be a good idea to watch the first 3 installments in the Toy Story series before seeing this movie. If you do not have time to watch the 3 previous movies, Toy Story 4 begins with a quick reintroduction to all of your favorite toy characters. Most kids movies are not enjoyable at all for adults. This movie will have you laughing and sometimes crying, right along with your children. If you are the crying type, bring along some tissues!

One of the best parts of  Toy Story 4 is all the new characters. Forky, voiced by Tony Hale and Duke Caboom, voiced by Keanu Reeves, are two of my favorite new characters. Duke Caboom has the same innocent exuberance as the original Buzz Lightyear. Duke was both serious and funny at the same time. As a toy stuntman, there were many opportunities for him to use his skills to save other toys in funny ways. Forky is the slightly misshapen spork that is full of anxiety. Forky had to learn that he was so much more than trash and I think many kids will find his neurotic energy relatable, as he feels overwhelmed by many things. Forky and Duke Caboom are just two of the new characters, there are many other toys for you to fall in love with in this movie.

So is Toy Story 4 review good for kids? Yes, this movie is awesome for your entire family. There are a few possibly scary characters, but none that kids older than 5 would find to be too scary. This movie is full of happiness and hopefulness. There are positive messages and role models and no sexual situations or bad words. Toy Story 4 has all the elements you hope it will, rescue missions and escapes, close calls and reunions. The lasting themes you will be left with are that loyalty, teamwork, imagination, and friendship are extremely important. The Toy Story series also shows you how important it is to play. A perfect family movie to enjoy.

Kids need to spend lots of time at free play with their toys. It is such an important part of childhood and Toy Story 4 is a great reminder to put away your electronics and play with your toys. This is a perfect family movie for everyone to enjoy this summer.
