Bonner Private Wine Review

Bonner Private Wines

Are you consuming more wine during this pandemic? We sure have been. Malbec wines are our favorite type of wines and we were surprised that we had never heard of extreme altitude Argentine malbecs until recently. The Bonner Private Wine Partnership can deliver wines from the edge of the world, right to your front door. This might be just what you need to survive the next few months of stuck-at-home life.

How are these wines special?

  • These wines are small-batch & come straight from the desert foothills of the Andes mountains, so they’re very hard to find in the US
  • They have incredible antioxidant benefits, 10x the resveratrol as found in other wines. (The Sunal wine was lab-tested and it came back with 10x the amount of resveratrol than a typical California wine)
  • Come from the third-highest altitude winery in the world.
  • Have 99% less sugar than other wines.
  • Include no flavor additives, extracts, or dyes
  • Never use any flavor-killing filtration or centrifugation.
  • Critics like Robert Parker have given Calchaqui wines 90+ pts.
  • The best part is that they taste amazing. Each wine has an amazing mouthfeel and flavor. You will find notes of blackberries, cherries, plums, and so much more.

Why drink high-altitude wines?

In the Calchaqui Valley, you can find a small group of winemakers tending to vineyards that are more than 8,000 feet above sea level. These vineyards are more than 6 hours away from the closest city. Did you know that the best wines come from vines that have been under a great deal of stress? These grapes cling to the vine and barely survive. They endure 80% more UV light than Bordeaux vines. The atmosphere is extremely thin and there is low CO2. There is barely any rainfall and very high winds at this altitude. Temperatures can fluctuate more than 70 degrees per day/night period.

Is resveratrol good for you?

Resveratrol is a natural phenol and a phytoalexin that is created by plants. You can only find resveratrol in very few places, the skin of grapes, berries, and peanuts. Resveratrol activates the body’s sirtuin pathway. Sirtuins are protein enzymes that help cellular functions which can include inflammation, detoxification, aging, stress resistance, and glucose metabolism.

Puramun Bonner Private Wine Review

Which wines did we try and what did we like about them?

We tried three wines,

Puramun Reserva

Sunal

And Colleción Quinquela which is a red blend

Puramun Reserva

The Puramun Reserva was created as a special project by the very famous winemaker, Pepe Galante. It was his first personal 100% family-owned wine. This Malbec had delicious scents of blueberries and oak. It earned a high score of 92 from Wine and Spirit and Wine Advocate publications. There was a total production of only 3000 cases, so don’t wait too long to order this one. We enjoyed the Puramun with a lamb with mint sauce dinner and it was a delicious duo.

Sunal Bonner Private Wine Review

The Sunal is an Ilógico Malbec and it had the most beautiful dark purple shade. The bold, dry, flavor was not too acidic and we enjoyed the cedar and oak scents along with plum, thyme, and black olive flavor. It had such a unique bold flavor and tasted amazing with a cheese charcuterie.

The Colleción Quinquela is a beautiful red ruby color. We loved the scents of plum, cinnamon, and coffee in each sip. This wine had a sweet taste to it and a smooth finish. We enjoyed this medium body red blend with a delicious Italian pasta dinner. Amazing flavor!
