#HeartofHaiti : supporting Haitian Moms through their art 50

heart of haiti by Macy's cutting board

Over 6 years ago a devastating earthquake rocked Haiti. The entire country took a terrible hit and they have been struggling to rebuild the country and the families who live there.  In an effort to help the families in Haiti, Macy’s created a product line called the Heart of Haiti.  The Heart of Haiti products are 100% created by women artisans in Haiti. Through this program, the women are able to attain fiscal empowerment from the sales of their handmade goods.  By using their artistic skills, they are able to create a better life for themselves and their children.  This project provides sustainable income as well as hope for the families.  This trade not aid program is a meaningful way for consumers to purchase products online while helping the Haitian artisans.

Mother’s Day is here and I want to wish a very Happy Mother’s Day to all the Moms who are celebrating.  Today I want you to meet Yvette Celestin, a Mom just like you and me, one of the Heart of Haiti artisans.

The women who are a part of the Heart of Haiti project are hard workers who are creating beautiful products, so they can support their families.  These Mothers want to create a better life for their children.  Each Mom is an artist, expressing her creativity with her hands.  There are over 500 artisans who are working on these beautiful Heart of Haiti items daily.  The #HeartofHaiti project has inspired me on this Mother’s Day.  I would love if you would browse through the collection and maybe you will see something special that would make your Mom smile.

My bruschetta looks amazing on this Heart of Haiti cutting board. Every time I use this board I will think of the beautiful artisans in Haiti who created it for me.  If you would like to see all of the items offered in the Heart of Haiti collection at Macy’s please click here.

Thank you to the Heart of Haiti for providing me with this gorgeous handmade wood cutting board so I could create this blog post.  I am a member of the Everywhere Society and they facilitated the product for my review.  All thoughts and opinions are 100% my own.
