Fairmont Hotel DC is located in Foggy Bottom in the heart of Georgetown

Perfect Location

Even though the Fairmont DC is in the heart of Georgetown, you cannot hear any street traffic in the hotel. Our rooms were so quiet. Lovely views of M Street from all angles with breathtaking sunrise and sunsets over the city. There is a Circulator bus stop at M Street and 24th Street NW, just outside the hotel. This is the best way to get around the city, along with the DC metro system.

Check-In

The lobby and check-in areas were inviting and modern. Comfortable seats were available in various spaces. Check in took only a few minutes. Sign up for a free President’s Club membership and you will enjoy many benefits including free internet access in your room.

Rooms are so spacious at the Fairmont Hotel DC

Room Amenities

The rooms at the Fairmont were very spacious and warm. The king suite had lots of space, a purple couch and a tv that swiveled so you could watch in bed or on the couch. The double room was also quite large. Both rooms had a big desk and chair if you need to do some work. The reading chair was a very soft leather with a large footrest, a perfect spot for the kids to read a book. Each room had a coffee machine and a hot water heater. Coffees, teas, and sugars were a welcome addition. There was a refreshment center in each room that was stocked with snacks and beverages. The in-room dining menu was extensive with options sure to please anyone who visits.

Closets held many surprises including a medium size safe as well as a large umbrella. I love that the hotel thinks about their guests by providing umbrellas for everyone to use. There was also an emergency flashlight in the closet. It would have been very handy when we stayed at another hotel during a power outage and we had to find our way out of the room in complete darkness. I hope no one will need to use the flashlight, but knowing it is available really provides peace of mind.

The beds at the Fairmont were incredibly comfortable. If you are in search of a good night’s sleep you must plan a visit. The mattress and soft pillows were very inviting. The luxurious sheets made getting up quite difficult. The shower was the best I have ever enjoyed. Generous, soft, thick towels, strong water pressure, and lovely scented shower products. The bathroom held a beautiful jar of bath salts as well as cotton balls.  Some of my teens might have taken two showers since it was such an enjoyable experience. The robes and slippers were also a nice touch, we really felt like we were on a fancy getaway with these lovely amenities. Having a clock on the nightstand and lamps with plugs and USB ports was a great benefit that many rooms these days do not have.

Fine Dining at Juniper restaurant at Fairmont DC hotel in Georgetown

Fine Dining at the Juniper Restaurant

Juniper restaurant is right off the lobby at the Fairmont Hotel. We enjoyed a delightful dinner as well as a delicious breakfast. The dinner menu offers many options all beautifully presented. We tried a “Beetini” which is their signature drink.  Its made from honey that they source directly from a hive that lives on the roof of the hotel. The wine list is also well matched to their food offerings with a well informed wait staff who made great suggestions to go with the meal.  The signature apple walnut bread was out of this world amazing. Breakfast can be ordered a la carte or you can choose the buffet($28 per person) which included: fresh fruits, pastries, steel cut oatmeal, hot options (scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, potatoes and french toast) bagels and cream cheese, cheeses, lox, muffins and more. We loved the local yogurts, fruit, and homemade granola best. Kids menus are available at dinner with plenty of kid-friendly options.

Hotel Amenities

The hotel amenities are quite spectacular at the Fairmont DC. The salt water lap pool was such a refreshing change of pace. There is a whirlpool for adults as well as a number of saunas. Make sure you check the free swim times, since there are hours that are reserved for laps only. This hotel had the best gym I have ever seen. Balance Gym is used by the people who live in the neighborhood, but it is also free for guests to use. You can join a class or use the equipment. The only class that has a charge is the Crossfit classes which is only $20. Make sure you pack your sneakers because you will want to take advantage of this fabulous gym. The locker rooms are fabulous too, so take your time getting ready for the day, or just go back up to your room and enjoy an extra shower. There is a business center on the ground floor if you need access to a computer or a printer. Just in case you are considering getting married in DC, The Fairmont Hotel is the perfect place to hold a wedding. The Kennedy Ballroom is breathtakingly gorgeous!

Tips for visiting the Fairmont Hotel DC

Try not to bring your car or even rent a car. It is $56 a night to park and it is hard to find parking spaces in DC. Use the metro or the circulator bus, both are linked above. The Fairmont allows dogs to stay with you! This dog-friendly hotel really caters to you and your pup. Many of the DC museums are free! This is a great way to have fun as a family and enjoy many of the excellent museums and experiences.
