Healthy dog treats

healthy homemade dog treats

Everyone in our home loves to snack, even our dog, Molly. We buy treats for her at the store, but sometimes we want to make a homemade dog treat too. We do not like Molly to have preservatives and additives in her food, so homemade treats allow you to control what she is eating. These healthy dog treats smelled amazing and shhhh tasted quite good. Yes, Molly’s Daddy ate a little piece and loved it. All of the ingredients are safe for dogs to eat and in no time you will have some homemade treats your dog will love.

The ingredients in these healthy dog treats are all found in your cabinet. We used organic ingredients when possible. The only thing you might need to buy is a dog bone shaped cookie cutter. I found this adorable set on Amazon, and it was only $4.12 for 4 pet themed cookie cutters, what a deal! We used our favorite peanut butter, Homeplate, but you can use any peanut butter without any additives. You also might need to find rice flour online. We did a lot of research and white flour and wheat flour are both not so easy for dogs to digest. Rice flour and oats are much better as the binders for these dog treats.

The dough came together very nicely. It was easiest for us to simply put the cookie cutter on the cookie sheet and then fill it with the dough. We pressed down on all sides and then the dog bone shaped cookie popped right out. Fill up your cookie sheet and then bake your treats. These treats smelled so good, like a scrumptious peanut butter cookie. Molly sat by the stove waiting for them to be ready.

Molly loved the homemade dog treats we made

Molly could barely wait for the treats to cool. She kept jumping up on the counter sniffing and trying to reach a treat. Molly rarely jumps on the counter, these treats just smelled THAT GOOD! Molly was rewarded with a few of these healthy dog treats and we promised her that we would share the recipe with all her dog friends.
