Homemade salsa is so much better than the jarred salsa you buy in the store. Today I am sharing with you our recipe for an easy homemade salsa. My family is obsessed with salsa, it is our favorite snack. I never thought that I would be a homemade salsa-making Mom. My kids begged me to try to make them homemade salsa and I was surprised at how easy it was to make. I love that you can control how much spiciness the salsa will have. The fresh tomatoes, chiles, and jalapenos make such a fantastic slightly spicy combination. Keep canned chiles and canned tomatoes on hand and you will be prepared for salsa all summer.

Tomatoes are so plentiful in the summer, so it is the perfect time to make homemade salsa or this delicious tomato tart. Fresh tomatoes from the garden or farmers’ market are simply perfect in this recipe. Another time saver here, you do not need to peel your tomatoes. Simply toss all your ingredients into a food processor and you are good to go.

A few important recipes notes. There are a few canned ingredients in this recipe. San Marzano crushed tomatoes are so good in this recipe, but if you cannot find this brand of canned toamtoes, that is fine. Use any canned tomatoes that are available in your store. Canned green chiles come in small cans and my store has them in mild, medium, and spicy. We like the medium spice level, but your family might not. Adjust the spices to your specific needs.

Don’t you want to dive into this bowl of salsa? Make sure you have some fresh tortilla chips to go along with your salsa. We love the Late July sea salt and lime chips and also the Que Pasa chips. Both are so good dipped into the salsa.

A few important salsa tips. Let the salsa get cold in the refrigerator. It tastes so much better chilled. This salsa will taste delicious for a little over a week. With 7 people in my house, it never lasts more than a few days. Make sure you store any extra salsa in a well-sealed container. This salsa is naturally gluten-free, healthy, and perfect for anyone following the Whole30, paleo, or Mediterranean diets.
