Is Avengers: Endgame a kid-friendly movie?
Today I am sharing a real Mom’s review of Avengers: Endgame. We saw a sneak preview today and I am sharing my thoughts after seeing it. You know your child better than I do, so please take these suggestions and decide carefully for yourself.
This will be a quick spoiler-free review for parents to read before taking their children to see the movie.
One thing is for sure, WE LOVED THIS MOVIE! We will be seeing it multiple times in the next few weeks, in 3D, in IMAX, as many times as possible. There is so much to love about this movie and we cannot wait to see it again soon.
Avengers: Endgame is an excellent movie on so many levels. The writing is funny and exciting with numerous moments of laughter, action and even some tears. There is some violence, but I felt like it was neither gratuitous nor too bloody. Much of the major action scenes occur in large battles which you see from a distance (although there are definitely some up close ones as well.) There are a few expletives (about 20 of them) and absolutely zero sex scenes or sexual innuendos. I would not hesitate to allow any child above the age of 8 to see this movie if they have seen any of the other Marvel movies. The only mild spoiler I will give you is that unlike the last Avengers movie, this one does not end in a way that would give a child nightmares. There are some sad parts, but it does not end on a very sad note.
5 Things you should know about Avengers: Endgame before you go:
1) The movie run time is just over 3 hours long. It didn’t feel too long at all while we were watching the movie. You should be prepared for a movie this long. Go to the bathroom right before it starts and have your snacks ready in advance. This is the type of movie that you might want to see at a place that serves you food and drinks right at your seat.
2)If you need to take your kids to the bathroom, a good time to take a break is when they first go to visit Thor (about 40 minutes in). This is a good time to make a quick run to the bathroom if your kids need to, and you will not miss too much.
3)You should familiarize yourself with some plot details before you go. Please watch or rewatch,
Iron Man 1, Thor 2, Guardians of the Galaxy 1, Antman (1 and 2), Dr. Strange and Avengers 1 and Infinity War.
4)This is a very girl friendly movie with some exceptional scenes of all the female heroes performing together. My daughter loved it.
5)There were no post-credit scenes at our screening, so you can run to the bathroom as soon as it is over!

Great! Glad to know I can watch this movie with my nephews.
Yes, I hope you will enjoy it!
I can’t wait to see this but I also want to rewatch all the movies that came before it. Agh, it’ll be tough. Thanks for sharing the bathroom break tip, I don’t have kids but that still helps me!
It is important to watch all the movies to remember all that happens!
I don’t have any kids but I do some parents who will take their kids to see this movie. I am not a fan of long movies, so I couldn’t sit though this movie.
Three hours is no joke! The fans of Avengers will find this to be too short!
Age definitely need to be determined with discretion. I cannot wait to see this movie.
It’s important to consider many things when you bring kids to movies! I hope this review will help some parents make the decision.
I would say it is and it isn’t. It is because the jokes are too adult for them to understand but still the violence.
Each parent must make their own decision. There is some violence in this movie which is why I do not recommend this movie for kids under 8.
Thank you for that. My kids are very excited about the movie and we are ready with our tickets for this Saturday. Good to know the movie ends in a positive note. I had the opportunity to be at the premiere in Hollywood of Infinity War and believe me, the cinema was completely silent at the end!
Wow, that is awesome that you got to see the premiere in Hollywood, that must have been an amazing experience. Enjoy Endgame this weekend!
I am so excited for the end game…gonna see it over the weekend. My colleague was just asking me the other day whether she should take her girls for this movie or not. Going to refer this post to her.
Thank you for sharing!
Thank you for sharing this with your friend!
Wow, I can’t remember the last time I went to a move that was 3 hours or more. My nieces and nephew are a little too young for this but hopefully when they are older we can share in the Marvel Universe.
I agree, 3 hours is a long movie, but with this movie, it did not feel too long at all.
Believe it our not, three hours went by so fast! It felt like a much shorter movie.
I’m so behind in the Marvel movies. It’s hard to believe these have been going on for so long, but it sounds like they are going out in good form.
The Marvel movies will continue because they are SO awesome!
Yes, these movies each build on each other. You should start with the first ones before seeing this one.
